| Geo IV Mahogany T. O. L. Table |
Fine Georgian table with a richly figured mahogany top banded with rosewood and edged with boxwood. Opens to reveal a wonderful interior , again rosewood banded and has a long central drawer to its frieze retaining its original key and lock. The reeded legs are finely carved at the top, the back two legs both swinging outwards to support the folded leaf. The crossbanded frieze has a very distinctive type of inlay, peculiar to the city of Edinburgh helping to date this lovely table to 1825-1830.The condition is wonderful with only minor blemishes to the surface. The leaves are not cracked or warped and the original hinges are intact. Ther are no signs of repairs or restoration to the legs, the hinges of the opening ones still firm and working.
